At the beginning of November, a welcome lunch was held for new recipients of the Aston Alumni Scholarship. First year students were able to meet their fellow recipients and hear from returning scholars, Harvey and Elaine, about the difference the award had made to them, as well as the wider opportunities they had both gained as Scholarship Ambassadors.

The Forward Fund was launched a year ago as a way for alumni and friends of Aston University to make gifts in support of students wherever the need was greatest. Thanks to your generosity we passed our target of £60,000 for the year. Thank you so much. The gifts made by you and others will fund a number of different activities, including helping students facing unforeseen financial challenges, funding the scholarships that allow talented students to concentrate on their studies throughout their time here, and assisting students pursuing ambitious placements that will further their long-term prospects. Addressing the gap between ability and attainment remains a priority for Aston. Gifts to the Forward Fund mean many more students will start the new academic year on a level playing field. As we carefully welcome students back on to campus, the Forward Fund will continue to play an important role in ensuring the right support is available to those who need it. Thank you.
