Helping students to live, learn and return

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED

The self-isolation and social distancing protocols causing major disruption across all of UK society are posing an immediate challenge to some of our most in-need students.Students without a strong safety-net risk getting left behind because of the pandemic. Aston is helping them in three key areas. Adding your support today will make a difference in safeguarding their futures.

By making a gift today you will directly help Aston students.

Help them to live, learn and return

- You can help a student to support themselves

80% of Aston students rely on part-time work to support themselves. This is far higher than many other universities. With non-essential businesses shutting down many students have lost that income and will struggle to pay for even basic essentials like food and rent. The Student Emergency Hardship Fund allows those in greatest need to receive urgent help.

- You can help stop a student falling behind at the worst possible time

All of Aston’s teaching is now being conducted online. A student who is not able to afford a laptop of their own is at real risk of falling behind in their studies. The Student Emergency Hardship Fund will increase the number of laptops available for students who don’t have their own.

- You can help a student returning home

Many of our students have taken exciting opportunities working abroad in their placement, but with isolation measures shutting down countries across the globe, some of these students need to return to the UK. Aston is helping them get back and The Student Emergency Hardship Fund will contribute towards the overall cost of their return home.

Where will the money go?

A gift of £20 could help a student buy essentials

A gift of £50 could pay for a weekly shop

A gift of £100 could help towards rent and utility bills for a week.

A gift of £400 could purchase a laptop, allowing a student to keep up with their studies

A gift of £1000 could help a student abroad on an international placement with their return home

- Any extra funds raised but not required will be put into the Forward Fund, supporting students with scholarships and bursaries throughout the normal academic year.
