Our project
We, the Aston University Christian Union, are hoping to raise £500 to help us buy a new projector to replace our current one that is old and very unreliable. We use the projector for most events whether it’s for the weekly Wednesday meetings, the CU socials and, most importantly, our outreach events to campus. This device enables us to provide interactive and engaging meetings where students can get involved and really get the most out of the events we put on.
Who are we?
We are a group of Christian students with a passion for the gospel and spreading the good news of Jesus around campus. We all have our own churches and small groups, but we run the CU as a way of getting our faith out on to our university campus and to let other people know what we believe in.
Our story
As a Christian Union with links to UCCF (Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship), our main focus is to give students who may not have heard about the gospel, a chance to find out what we believe and the hope we have in Jesus.
Over the years we have evangelised to campus in many ways through our various events such as Dial a Doughnut events where students can message in a question in return for an answer and a doughnut from CU members who go out to each flat.
We had a great Fresher’s week this year where we were able to help students move in whilst handing out free gifts like washing up liquid and recipe books.
Where will the money go?
We estimated the cost of a new projector along with all its equipment to cost around £500-£600, so any remaining costs will be covered by previous donations paid into the CU account.
If we receive an excess in donations, the extra money will be put into future outreach events such as our events week that will take place next term in February.
Everyone who donates will have the option to give their email address if they would like to stay up to date with our events throughout the term.
